El Zombo Fantasma

Wow, it's been waaaaaay too long since I updated this blog.... just too much going on lately! Here's some stuff that has kept me busy over the last year or so.

El Zombo is a comic book series created by the very talented Dave Wilkins and published by Dark Horse Comics. Wilkins is an art director at Sony San Diego but has also created iconic comic book covers for Marvel and DC. Check out his work, it's INSANE! Dave Wilkins
His bold use of color and dynamic compositions are incredible. The same amount of awesome is poured into each frame of El Zombo. In the comic, El Zombo is a famous Mexican wrestler who is murdered and ends up in purgatory and the only way he can avoid eternal damnation is to protect a 10 yr old girl in Los Angeles. This gives him a chance to find his killer but all kinds of crazy stuff unfolds in the process. It's a really cool story and I've become quite the fan of El Zombo.

Dave has been awesome to work for on this project and it's been really cool helping him realize his 2D creation in 3D form. He was even nice enough to hook me up with a couple busts of El Zombo which I have displayed at work by my desk.

So anyway, here's some shots of all the work I've done for him including the regular and "beast mode" physical busts Dave had made from my zbrush sculpts. By the way, the zombie guy with the loin cloth.... that's part of something much bigger involving El Zombo. More to come soon. :)

Orcs Must Die!

Well, I'm finally getting around to posting most of my work from OMD. I'm very proud of the work that me and my fellow artists put into this game. A lot of this stuff is repetitive showing both the zbrush and in game models but I think it helps to see both because sometimes details can get lost in the final game models. The interlude images were built using my character models and the weapon models were made by Gene Kohler. The environments were built by Paul Slusser, Rob Walden and Duane Santos.
